The Sage Family Camp Out is coming soon!
​Sat, 10/5 at 3 pm thru Sun, 10/6 at 9 am

The very first Sage Canyon Camp Out is fast approaching.  Families will camp under the stars and enjoy fun activities, a glow dance party, dessert, movie & popcorn, breakfast the next morning and family yoga. All this for just $10 per family. Those interested in purchasing a taco dinner for their family will have the option to do so, or families can bring their own dinner.  This event will be held at Del Mar Heights School with its beautiful ocean view. Space is limited, so register your spot today!

Event Objective
  • Introduce tent camping with our school community to our children
  • Host a safe & fun event for our kids.
  • Create positive memories for our families.
 
Event Date
  • Camping the night of Saturday, October 5, 2019
  • Tent setup may begin at 3 pm on Saturday
  • Tents to be down and property vacated by 9:00 AM on Sunday, October 6, 2019
 
Event Location
  • Field of Del Mar Heights School, Address: 13555 Boquita Drive, Del Mar, CA 92014
 
Meals and Food
  • Families may either bring a brown bag dinner or Mexican food (taco/quesadilla truck style) will be there for food purchase on Saturday evening
  • After dinner dessert and “late night” popcorn for the movie will be provided Saturday evening
  • Breakfast and coffee will be provided next day, starting at 7 AM
 
Registration
  • $10 registration fee per family includes: 1 reserved tent spot, organized activities, movie, dessert, movie popcorn, glow sticks, breakfast and tons of fun!
  • Sign Up Closes: Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 6 pm
 
Capacity
  • 120 tents. First come, first serve for tent location on the field (with pre-registration sign-up and payment of $10 per family registration fee).
 
Agenda
  • Check-in & Tent Setup: 3pm-5pm
  • Supper: 5:30-6:30
  • Free Play & Organized Activities: 5:00-8:00 pm (games, crafts, movie night, glow stick dance party)
  • All quiet time: 10pm
  • Breakfast: Sunday at 7AM
  • Instructor led Morning Yoga to close the campout at 8 AM
Rules
  • Must register by 6pm on September 25
  • One family per tent. 
  • Must be at least one adult in each tent
  • No consumption of alcohol
  • No smoking or vaping on school premises
  • Tent tags (will be provided) with the tent occupants and emergency contact information must be displayed outside on each tent.
  • No loud music after 9pm
  • Everyone in their tent by 10pm
  • No fires or grills
  • No climbing on the hills, the fences, or on the buildings.
  • Bathrooms:
    • Children’s bathrooms will be open until 10 PM, and reopen at 6 AM
    • The staff lounge bathrooms will be open at all times
    • No adults are allowed in the Children's bathrooms
    • Children requiring assistance will use the staff lounge bathrooms
 
Who can attend?
  • Parents/guardians of current Sage Canyon Elementary students and their immediate siblings.
  • Sage Canyon Elementary families only or staff only. No friends from other schools.
  • Current Sage Canyon students will be given priority for all organized activities.
 
Is it Dads & Kids only?
  • No. Moms, Dads or Guardians are welcome to chaperone their Sage Canyon student. We require at least one adult per tent.
 
Can my brother/sister in preschool come too?
  • Preschool aged kids are welcome to join. We require at least one adult per tent.
 
Can kids go with another family?
  • No.
 
Can we share a tent with another family?
  • No.
 
Can my friends from another school attend?
  • No.  (Only Sage Canyon students, staff and their immediate siblings)
 
Meals and Food?
  • Saturday Night: Dinner (Mexican) will be available for purchase or families may bring a brown bag dinner.
  • Saturday night dessert and popcorn during the movie will be provided.
  • Sunday Morning: Breakfast will be provided.
  • You may bring your own food or snacks.
  • The water dispenser will be accessible.
 
What about Restrooms and Toilets?
  • School bathrooms will be unlocked for this event.
 
What if it rains?
  • Camping in the field will continue with rain, snow, or high winds. Please dress accordingly for the evening weather.
  • For safety, camping will be cancelled if there is a thunderstorm (lightning). 
 
What should I bring?
  • One Tent
  • Sleeping bag per person
  • Pillows as needed
  • Flash light
  • Toothbrush and toiletries
  • Change of clothes
  • Warm clothes for the evening weather
  • Food/snacks, water/drinks
  • Yoga mat or thick towel for morning yoga
  • Optional: playing cards, board games, reading book, lawn chairs, safe sports equipment/balls
 
What should I NOT bring?
  • Fireworks, firearms, alcohol, stoves, wood burning pits, anything with an open flame.
  • Toy guns
  • No electronics for kids (no tablets)
  • Electronics for parents are for emergency only.
 
Banned Items
  • No alcohol
  • No cigarettes, vaping or smoking on school property
  • No firearms
  • No fireworks
  • No open flames
  • No toy weapons
  • No pets
